Guess what?! My blog is one year old! I started exactly one year ago. To celebrate I’m doing my first giveaway. I’m making and sending one lucky person my “you are my greatest adventure” watercolor world printable. I’ll even put it in a nice frame for you.
To enter the giveaway, you need to head over to my instagram page, like my photo, and comment and you’ll be entered into the giveaway to win my printable. Here is my instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/kelsi_lynn_merrill/

Blogging has been such a rewarding thing. I’m so glad I started this venture a year ago and I hope to continue to grow and expand. Thank you for those who consistently read my posts and follow my adventures. Without you, I wouldn’t be blogging. So thank you!
One of my fitness idols posted something on instagram that I thought was interesting. She said, “Just because you don’t look like someone you think is attractive, doesn’t mean you aren’t attractive. Flowers are pretty, but so are Christmas lights and they look nothing alike.” And while instagram quotes can be a little corny, this one actually struck me. I was thinking about it and I started to truly realize the different kinds of beauty. While someone may be a flower, I may be a Christmas light. I may not have the flower-like body, but I may be a shining light that brings joy in a different way. This is why it is so important not to compare yourself to another person’s beauty, because it would be so silly to compare your bright Christmas light beauty to a beautiful pink flower.
This is all I really wanted to say. A little happy thought to keep you going and keep me going as well. I also wanted to show off my little black dress :). It’s from Piper & Scoot (the cutest store ever), and it feels like I’m wearing a nightgown and I love it. Find it here, they have so many different colors! And it’s only $28 bucks! Such a steal!
I wanted to do a blog post. I told you I was going to get into one of my new dresses and hat and I needed you to take pictures of me. Once I was dressed, we went outside to where the light seemed best, but that was hard. The camera wasn’t capturing the light no matter what we tried. I got frustrated. But you kept taking photos and kept telling me I looked good. I went to look at the pictures you took and got mad, at you for not capturing it right, and at me for looking so “ugly” and “fat.” You got mad when I called myself ugly and we ended by me giving up and saying “that will have to do.”
I wanted to tell you that I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I can’t imagine it’s easy watching your wife cling desperately to any self-esteem she has left in her and not be able to do anything about it. I want this blog to do well, and honestly, I get so vulnerable, thinking about myself and how I may never be a blogger anyone wants to follow because of my size. But this is unfair to you, who have been nothing but supportive when it comes to my hopes and dreams.
Dear Husband, please forgive me. Please forgive me for reaching for perfection, when you’ve seen it in me all along.
Dear readers, please enjoy these photos that caused a few tears.
Here’s the dress! From my favorite: Piper & Scoot. The Derby Dress
When me and Grant got our first apartment, I knew my bathroom was going to be nautical. I love beach stuff. It’s so cute for a bathroom. I loved doing my dream living room plan, so I did the same with a bathroom. Here it is! No matter how big your bathroom is, you can have your dream bathroom.
Yep, it’s short today–but I told myself I had to do more with my blog. It helps me focus on other things– it keeps the depression at bay. It’s also just super fun.

When I was younger, the thought of decorating and designing a home was so lame. Now that I’m living in a small little apartment, waiting for my husband to finish school, I can’t help planning my dream home. Today in church someone said something along the lines of, “women’s ego’s are tied to their house.” That is so true! While my husband may see no point in investing in how our house looks, I thrive on it. I love planning my future home. I have very little money now, so right now planning is the only thing I can do. But if I plan now, I will have a better idea of what I want for the future. So as a fun little blog post, I decided to design my dream living room! I will provide the links as well to show you that you don’t have to destroy your bank account to make your living room cute. Also, right now, as you can probably tell, I’m really into the white and gold accents.

If you’ve been following my instagram, you’ll know that I have been working on a gallery wall! I am so excited to finally reveal it!
It’s right above our bed and I am so in love! And it was really inexpensive to pull off. Most everything you have to buy can be bought for super cheap. The most expensive stuff would be the frames, but you can always find cheap frames that are not ugly and plastic. Though for some of these, I used adobe illustrator, which is expensive… but you can always buy prints on etsy instead. I just love to design so I decided to do my own 🙂
In case you were interested, these are all the materials I used on this projects:
Really, that’s basically it. If you guys want me to show you how to do any of these, let me know! I will do some tutorials:)
I LOVE my wall. Now, you guys can go LOVE your wall! Seriously, this was so fun. You should try making your own gallery wall.
I know many of you have been keeping up with my fitness program to lose 25 pounds by Christmas. Well, I’ve decided to make a pretty big decision. I decided to forget my weight goal. Originally, I wanted to lose 25 pounds by Christmas. But I have been feeling so much pressure and I have been become obsessed with reaching my goal. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve decided not to set a goal weight. I know I could do it, but I don’t want my happiness to be so dependent on my weight. That being said, I’m not changing what I’m doing. I’m on track to getting the body that I want, and that’s really all that matters.
What Happens Next
I will continue to take progress photos every month or every big milestone, and I don’t want that to stop at Christmas. I want this to be a continuous journey, not a 3 month parade. I will do everything the same, working hard everyday, but I am just taking weight out of the equation.
A part of me hesitated with telling everyone this. I know I made a big deal of my fitness goal, and I guess I’m a little nervous about people thinking I’ve given up. That’s not what this is. This is me choosing my happiness. For so long, my happiness depended on the shape of my body and the number on the scale. I’m not going to let the scale dictate what I feel about my body. I’m in this for the long haul–I’m in this for a healthier and happier life. That takes time… more than 3 months. So by Christmas, yes I may be skinnier and healthier, but I may not be 135 pounds. And that’s okay. I think I’m finally okay with that.
Anyways… hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Plaid shirt & Necklace- Bohme
Haven’t posted an outfit in a while. This is one of my favorites. This soft suede shirt is so flattering and so comfy and soft. I think people at work have noticed I don’t wear a lot of color. But really, it doesn’t get much better than a good monochromatic outfit.
You know why I’m grateful for a job? Well, for many reasons… but mostly because it forces me to look like a human. I feel like every day I don’t have work, I’m in sweats all day. But now I have to look presentable. Or else no one wants to buy clothes. Cool.
Here are the detes on my outfit.
Okay… so I just looked for the outfit online, and it looks like it’s sold out on the website… but here are a few more of my Bohme favorites that I recently got (with my awesome 40% discount) that are still available! I will have to take pics of the ones I bought that aren’t for sale because I just wanna show them off 🙂 Seriously, my store sells the CUTEST stuff. Visit their site here.
Have a good day!
Once upon a time, in the BYU-Idaho gym, a girl comes up to me and asks if I want to do these butt workouts with her. I was a little surprised, but she seemed nice so I said sure. She told me that she doesn’t like to do them alone because they look a little awkward. So she showed me this amazing leg lift routine that works the butt like crazy!
So…if I’m being honest, I’m not a fan of my butt. It’s just not my best feature. So, I started incorporating these butt lift workouts every day. They don’t take too long, so I just add it to the end of my workouts. They’re killer, and I have definitely felt a difference in my butt. It’s perkier and I less cellulite.
Anyway, I thought I would share this with y’all. Also, I wanted to show off my new outfit!
I got these cute pants and mesh shirt from Fabletics. I got it all for 25 bucks! Fabletics has a deal where when you sign up for their VIP membership (free), you get your first outfit for 25 bucks.
Now, without further ado, here is my butt workout!
Happy Thursday! Works those butts off! (heh)
